Mackenzie Design Assists First Off Shore Wind Power in US

Mackenzie Design, working with the University of Maine’s Advanced Structures and Composites Center, assisted in the deployment of the first off shore wind turbine in North America. VolturnUS, as the floating platform is called, is 1/8 scale prototype. It was launched on May 31, 2013 in Brewer, ME and floated down the Penobscot River with the help of Maine Maritime Academy’s tugboat, the Pentagoet. It’s anchored just off Castine, ME where it will stay for further testing.
